A few weeks ago, MYBA The Worldwide Yachting Association announced the renewal until 2024 of Marina Port Vell Barcelona as the venue for the MYBA Charter Show, one of the major international events in the yachting sector.
The renewal of the agreement reinforces the new positioning and investment project of Marina Port Vell Barcelona, which aims to consolidate Barcelona’s leadership as one of the main destinations for superyachts, and to specialise even more in the provision of quality services for them.
Barcelona, a premium destination on the major boat show circuit
The signing of the agreement took place during the Monaco Yacht Show, a prestigious annual event for the exhibition of the world’s most exclusive superyachts, which was held from 22 to 25 September in this location on the Côte d’Azur. According to Ignacio Erroz, general manager of Marina Port Vell, “the marina is proud and pleased to welcome MYBA Charter Show once again. The renewal of this agreement demonstrates that Barcelona has consolidated its leading position as a superyacht destination, in line with our new positioning and its associated investment project that will allow us to further specialise in the superyacht segment.”
The organisers of this event are already preparing for the next edition, which will take place from 25 to 28 April in Barcelona, after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 health crisis.
John Wyborn, MYBA president, celebrated the fact of “continuing the collaboration with Marina Port Vell Barcelona as the venue for the next two years of the show” and stated that “everything possible will be done to ensure that the 2022 edition is a resounding success”. Likewise, Raphael Sauleau, AYSAS Chairman and Chair of the MYBA Communications Committee, also expressed his satisfaction at the signing of the renewal with Marina Port Vell: “We are extremely optimistic going forward and we are so looking forward to kicking off the 2022 summer season in Barcelona together with the Marina Port Vell team.”
MYBA Charter Show, a success story
The MYBA Charter Show is the most relevant yachting fair at international level and has been held in the city of Barcelona since 2017. In the last edition, held in 2019, 60 large boats were exhibited, and more than 2,000 industry professionals attended.
During the days that this event is held, Marina Port Vell Barcelona hosts around 60 superyachts belonging to the exhibition, in addition to the boats of the marina’s regular customers, enabling up to 180 moorings during those dates.
Marina Port Vell is constantly working to host the best fairs in the nautical sector and to further promote its range of events, while at the same time presenting itself as a as a reference space for holding events for the main international brands.
