As part of the programme of activities that Marina Port Vell Barcelona designs for all its guests, a wine tasting session was held at the marina’s facilities aimed at captains and first officers. On this occasion, the Alella Vinícola winery, one of the oldest and most renowned wineries in the Alella D.O., was selected for the tasting.
For an hour and a half, the captains and first officers of the superyachts berthed at Marina Port Vell were able to enjoy the explanations of the sommelier, who showed the main wines produced by the winery, including whites, rosés, reds and sparkling wines. In addition, attendees were able to try an assortment of local cured meats and cheeses. The Sea Garden terrace was the place chosen to celebrate the event.
Alella Vinícola, a family winery that combines tradition and innovation
Founded in 1906, Alella Vinícola is a family-run winery belonging to the Alella Designation of Origin, one of the smallest and oldest on the Iberian Peninsula. Located between the sea and the mountains ─between the regions of Maresme and Vallès Oriental─, vineyard growing in this area dates back to Roman times.
Alella Vinícola produces approximately 90,000 bottles a year of a dozen different wines, including its flagship brand, Marfil, which has been produced at the winery since the 1920s and exported all over the world. Over the years, in addition to maintaining the production of wines that have marked the style of the winery, Alella Vinícola has invested in recovering forgotten vinifications, as well as in the creation and invention of original proposals never made in the area before.
