There are many reasons for which superyachts from all over the world choose us every day. And one of those reasons, in addition to our high-end facilities and our meticulous customer service, is Barcelona. The Catalan capital has spectacular cultural and entertainment events all year round. During special times of the year, such as the Christmas season, these events multiply and the city comes alive with activity.
At Marina Port Vell Barcelona we have compiled a list of the most important ones:
The Universe of Light at the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site
The Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site was built between 1905 and 1930 by architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner as a garden city for the infirm. A century later, this jewel of Catalan Art Nouveau continues to retain its essence today. During the Christmas season, for the second year in a row, the venue is hosting a state-of-the art immersive audiovisual show for children and adults. From December 22 to January 15, you can take a tour by means of projections and sensory tunnels of planets, stars and galaxies light years away from the Earth.
El Moll de la Fusta Christmas Market
A few steps away from Marina Port Vell is the Moll de la Fusta quay Christmas Market, with daily musical performances, activities to learn about sailing, as well as environmental awareness activities. There is also a 400 square-meter environmentally sustainable ice skating rink; attractions for children, food trucks, Christmas stalls and a traditional 65-meter ferris wheel. All of this in a magical and festive environment.
The exclusive Moments restaurant
Christmas is a time for traditions. And there is nothing more traditional in Barcelona than Catalan cuisine. The Moments restaurant, located in the Mandarin Oriental hotel on Passeig de Gràcia, offers creative cuisine based on classic regional recipes. And the quality is remarkable at the restaurant, which now has two Michelin stars on its résumé. Run by renowned chef Carme Ruscalleda and her son Raül Balam, the restaurant immerses its customers in a unique experience. A highlight is its ‘Disset’ (Seventeen) tasting menu in which each course represents one of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for 2030.
Christmas parties at exclusive venues
With just a few weeks to go before the holiday festivities, Barcelona’s most exclusive hotels and restaurants have presented their proposals for Christmas. On December 31, for example, the luxury Hotel W will host La Gran Finale, an exclusive party that includes a gala dinner with a sophisticated menu, a show, a fireworks display and an open bar, as a proper way to say goodbye to 2022.
And, as it does each year, the Hotel Palace has organized a full schedule of activities to celebrate the holiday season. During the month of December, its famous rooftop will become the backdrop for film sessions, with dinners served in an Alpine cabin setting and even a Christmas market inspired by the markets of northern Europe. The Palace’s program is made complete by a grand Christmas concert, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve dinners, and the big New Year’s Eve party at the Bluesman Cocktail Bar.
Another exciting option is to celebrate New Year’s Eve at the Mirablau restaurant/discotheque at the foot of the Tibidabo mountain. This involves a dinner with signature tapas, exotic drinks at the cocktail bar and a festive atmosphere with music that at all times keeps with the elegant and glamorous style of the venue.
Discover Barcelona at Christmas time and let yourself be charmed by its wondrous offerings.
