July, 2024.
Marina Port Vell, the leading Barcelona superyacht marina in the Mediterranean, has completed its repositioning project and the associated investment plan, which began in 2021 with an investment of €20 million to enhance its infrastructure capacity and the quality of services for large yachts. Ignacio Erroz, General Director of Marina Port Vell Barcelona, presented the facilities this morning to Lluís Salvadó, President of the Port of Barcelona, and his General Director, José Alberto Carbonell; David Pino, Director of Port Vell; and Albert Batlle, Deputy Mayor of Security of Barcelona City Council and Councillor of Ciutat Vella; Octavio González, technical advisor of the district; and Oriol Casabella, sports advisor of Barcelona City Council.
Erroz expressed the marina’s commitment to the city and its surroundings, stating that the new positioning of Marina Port Vell and its associated investment project aims, on one hand, to “strengthen Barcelona’s momentum as a nautical hub in the Mediterranean and a reference destination for large yachts,” and on the other hand, to “contribute to the balance and harmonization of the different uses and spaces of the various docks of the Port of Barcelona, specializing in providing services for large yachts, under four strategic pillars: sustainability, growth, innovation, and competitiveness,” which are also strategic lines of the Port of Barcelona and Port Vell, where the marina is integrated.

Three Major Projects: Water Surface Reorganization, Landscaping, and New Fuel System
Marina Port Vell has undertaken various remodelling actions in its spaces over the last three years, comprising three major projects: the reorganization of the water surface, a landscaping project, and the installation of a new fuel supply system. The works carried out on the water surface, covering an area of 8,531 square meters, increase the marina’s specialization in large yachts with a total of 23 new berths for vessels up to 70 meters. This project reorganizes the positioning of the moored vessels, enhancing the visible area of the water surface so that visitors can enjoy the views offered by Port Vell.
The action plan also included a landscaping project to increase green spaces within the infrastructure, affecting a total of 17,637 square meters. This initiative has been implemented at the Sota Muralla, Depósito, Barceloneta, España, and Reloj docks. In this way, Marina Port Vell Barcelona joins the city’s commitment to green spaces in support of sustainability.
Finally, a new fuel supply system has been installed to reduce the risk of environmental pollution. This involves the installation of a 510-meter supply network, allowing for fuelling vessels at the berths via a pumping system. This project has been carried out at the Barceloneta and Reloj docks and at Pier C.

One Month to the 37th America’s Cup
The completion of Marina Port Vell’s transformation project comes just one month before the start of the America’s Cup Barcelona 2024.
Marina Port Vell was designated the “Preferred Marina for Superyachts” for the 37th America’s Cup in January 2023 due to its prime location in Barcelona, right in the city centre, as well as the quality of its facilities and the premium services and high added value it can offer to large yachts visiting this Mediterranean nautical hub.
Starting with the beginning of the competition on August 22 and continuing until its conclusion in October, Marina Port Vell will host exclusive activities and experiences in its facilities, featuring a premium gastronomic proposal, ‘VIP on Board’ programs to watch the competition live on premium vessels, sales of exclusive merchandise, and participation from luxury brands with “Luxury Boutiques,” among other initiatives.
