Marina Port Vell, the epicenter of luxury at the 37th America’s Cup
One of the major milestones of 2024 was its role as the ‘Preferred Superyacht Marina’ for the 37th America’s Cup, an event that positioned the marina as the epicenter of luxury in Barcelona. During the competition, the marina attracted more than 150 superyachts and tens of thousands of visitors from around the world, prompting Marina Port Vell to increase its staff from 30 to more than 120 to cope with the increased activity and volume of clients.
As part of the competition, Marina Port Vell presented a varied leisure exclusive offer to visitors under the slogan ‘The Superyacht Marina Experience: The most exclusive atmosphere’. Among other things, guests were able to enjoy a top-tier gastronomic proposal in the Sea Garden area, in the Blue Wave cocktail bar, in the exclusive Möet & Chandon Terrace, and in the Estrella Damm Lounge.
The marina also created a ‘Luxury Mile’ with luxury international brands such as Louis Vuitton, Prada, Maui Jim, and INEOS Granadier, as well as its own boutique with official America’s Cup merchandise and a collaboration with Santa Eulalia, which was a clear statement of intent to promote Barcelona’s local luxury on the international stage.
During the competition, sailing enthusiasts enjoyed exclusive experiences such as the ‘VIP Onboard Experience’ aboard the Wajer 38 and Wajer 55 yachts, exclusive spaces with privileged views and exceptional gastronomy. Marina Port Vell also hosted exclusive events organized by major brands, especially the Barcelona 2024 America’s Cup sponsors, who chose its spaces to hold events, parties, and presentations, creating unforgettable memories for attendees. The marina also hosted the English team, Ineos Britannia, one of the finalists in the competition, offering visitors moments of real emotion.
In addition, the marina distributed LED screens throughout its facilities to follow the competition, offered a Patí Català exhibition on the docks, and created a spectacular entrance inspired by waves and sailboats. To further enrich the experience for its customers, the marina also developed an app that provided access to the marina and information on the regatta schedule, as well as exclusive activities and offers.
A future of growth and innovation in the yachting sector
Looking ahead to 2025, Marina Port Vell aims to consolidate its position as a benchmark in the events sector, positioning itself as a unique and exclusive venue in the city. The spaces that were transformed during the America’s Cup will once again be available to brands looking for truly unique and exclusive spaces to hold events. In addition, the marina will continue to consolidate its leadership as the superyacht port of choice in the Mediterranean, furthering its commitment to sustainability, innovation, and strategic growth. The recent renewal of its Biosphere certification is a sign of its firm commitment to integrating sustainable practices throughout its operations.
