The 26th edition of La Ruta de la Sal, one of the biggest sailing regattas in the Mediterranean starts today.

In 1846, Barcelona ran out of salt supplies so 13 boats sailed to Formentera in order to collect and bring back salt for the city.  In 1991 the regatta was created to commemorate this historical event.

170 boats and 1500 participants from 10 different European countries will participate in this years regatta.  Marina Port Vell will be host to some of the boats participating and we wish good luck to everyone!
